I received an advance before raising the invoice. How does the EDF work?

The advance does not start the EDF clock. The invoice does. Raise the invoice, file within the deadline, and note the advance in the remarks column. RBI wants you to route the advance and the final payment through the same bank. If you switch banks, tell both.
