How long do I have to receive payment from my client?

Nine months from the invoice date. If you invoice or settle in Indian rupees, you get twelve months. An RBI amendment dated 22 September 2026 cut these from fifteen and eighteen months, effective 1 October 2026. Your bank can extend the period if you ask and give reasons it finds genuine.
