Do I need an EDF for invoices raised before 1 October 2026?

RBI's regulations and circular do not say. The new rules took effect on 1 October 2026 and replaced the 2015 rules, saving anything done before that date. Published analyses, such as TaxGuru's of 4 October, read invoices dated up to 30 September as staying under the old rules, but no RBI or bank text confirms it. For a September invoice, ask your bank to confirm in writing whether it wants an EDF.
